Moving in to an apartment is made easier with wide doors, spacious hallways, and elevators where applicable. Does your unit have these things?
- Make sure all the apartment appliances are working correctly. Make sure there is ice in the freezer, an oven that heats adequately, burners that heat evenly.
- The locks for the apartment door entrance, and the entrance to the building should be in good repair. Check the doors for signs of break-ins.
- Check the to ensure your unit has hot water, and check the water pressure. Make sure the water drains.

- Household moving can be extra stressful. Always pack a box of household items you will need on your moving day. These items include toiletries, soap and a towel, a light cleaning kit, snacks, liquids, a change of clothes, and bathroom linens. Label the moving box and make sure it is easily accessible from the back of the moving truck. Also pack valuables such as documents, passports, birth certificates, and jewelry in a seperate box to also be handled on your moving day.
- When arriving to your new household, make sure the the power and phone have indeed been connected. Designate a place to stack empty moving boxes once they have been emptied.
